Naturally, then, the manager is over the moon when Toby is replaced by Holly as he takes a leave of absence to attend the Scranton Strangler trial. There's no one Michael loves more than Holly Flax and no one he hates more than Toby Flenderson. But, of course, it's Jim's teapot gift for Pam, with the note that shows up again all the way at the end of the series, that really steals the show. Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration also makes his first appearance.
#THE OFFICE SEASON 2 EPISODE 10 FULL#
Angela's party planning frustrations, Michael's penchant for alcoholic workplace reverie, and a drunken Todd Packer are all on full display. The episode features a slew of memorable early moments. Fuming with completely unfounded rage, Michael shifts the game to Yankee Swap, ensuring that a miserable time is had by all. The gloves really come off, though, when Michael receives a homemade oven mitt from Phyllis as his gift. (Remember those?) It's worth hundreds of dollars and massively upsets the balance in a game with a meager purchase limit of $20. However, the entire event is thrown out of whack when it's revealed that, as his gift for Ryan, Michael purchased a video iPod. The story takes place during the titular office Christmas party, particularly focusing on a traditional game of Secret Santa. The episode is a perfect microcosm of the chaotic comedy that reigns supreme after the two Dunder Mifflin branches merged earlier in the season. The stunt lands him in a 10-week anger management program, which he's determined to complete in half the time. As they call him repeatedly, the emotionally unstable salesman eventually loses his cool and punches a hole in a wall.

The two manage to deposit Andy's cell phone - complete with his personally recorded a capella "Rockin' Robin" ring tone - into the ceiling above him. In the meantime, Jim finally reunites with Pam in order to prank Andy, who's been nothing but obnoxious since his arrival in Scranton. First, this is the episode where Oscar returns from his three-month paid vacation after Michael kisses him in "Gay Witch Hunt." In celebration, Michael orders the Party Planning Committee to throw the most racist welcoming party ever seen on television. While Dwight's personal odyssey remains the central theme, it takes place amidst a few fairly momentous events. The greatest gem in this episode, though, comes in the form of Andy's hopeless attempt to remember the brand behind the classic jingle "Give me a break/Give me a break/Break me off a piece of that - " Unable to recollect, the frustrated employee suggests "apple sauce," "Chrysler car," and "football cream" before finally settling on "Fancy Feast" as the clearly correct answer. In spite of their struggles and the fact that Dwight has disappeared into his "Second Life" gaming world, the rest of the office manages to pull together a genuinely entertaining bit of cinema - even if it doesn't ever go further than the four walls of Poor Richard's pub. Among other things, Pam offers to create a nifty animated logo, Darryl's team fails to make a suitable jingle, and Phyllis falls flat trying to get Sue Grafton to guest star in the spot. Scott personally takes on the production of the entire project. The episode starts with Michael dismissing the creatively restrictive contractors who originally arrive to shoot the clip. Jan then listens to his voicemail and storms out of the office. Their boss eventually off-roads entirely by breaking up with Jan over voicemail - only to have her stroll into the office moments later to apologize in person for a previous argument. The episode ends with Pam and Karen having a showdown over their women's intuition by giving Michael conflicting relationship advice. Meanwhile, Dwight heads up the hunt for the flasher and the rest of the testosterone-ridden crew pay a curious visit to the decked-out women's room. To top it all off, he buys them all lingerie, because of course he would do that. There he encourages them to "dish" but ends up telling them about his own relationship with Jan. He puts on an impromptu women's appreciation seminar, which eventually devolves into the manager taking the group to the mall. When he realizes that he's massively overstepped, the dunderhead flips on a dime - and not in a good way either. When Phyllis is flashed on the way into the building, Michael initially responds in a cruelly mocking manner, even going so far as to ask the implicative question of why Phyllis, of all the women in the office, was the one flashed.
